Coach Abby Colbert
A Shepherdstown native, Coach Abby has been running since she was in 5th grade at Shepherdstown Elementary School. She quickly realized how much she loved running and it became a part of her everyday life. She ran Cross Country and Track for Shepherdstown Middle School, then moved into high school where she was on the Varsity team four years, with 2 Cross Country State Titles, and Track and Field State titles. After high school, she decided to run at West Virginia University under Sean Cleary and Erin O'Rielly, where she graduated with a major in Athletic Coaching Education, and minored in Sport Exercise Psychology. After two and a half years of multiple injuries she decided to hang up the spikes and help youth athletes in Morgantown, WV. She started coaching at Suncrest Middle School with Buck Brooks and John Ellis, where she spend the next three years coaching Cross Country and Track and Field, she specialized in mid-distance, distance and hurdles. After the first year of coaching at Suncrest she started to help Coach Brooks with his off season club "Onka 1080." Thanks to all the help and mentoring, she decided to follow his footsteps and make a difference in the community and help anyone who wanted to become better, more dedicated athletes to prepare for the future.
